As I’ve started here, in my mind these books are timeless, perfect for 9-12 year olds (girls mainly) and hope I can collect them all for the little one, and any future children I may have. Currently, I am unaware of whether my mum has kept the LARGE collection I had, so until then I start afresh. Lets hope I can start bolding them to show I have collected them.

I remember rushing through second hand book stores trying to find the one I was missing, and now I’m just hoping that my mum can find that whole collection, or I will be trying to get my hand on any of them. (Preferably not the new ones they have released this year… )

I also had many Little Sister books. Hopefully my mum also has those, as they will be great for the little one in a few years. I remember buying these because my sister owned the BSC collection before me, and I wanting to read them so badly, but they were just a bit too old for me. So I devoured the Little Sister books, until finally I picked up Kristy’s Great Idea one more time, and read it from beginning to end. It was definitely a series you didn’t put down, next thing I remember the collection was in my room, and I was happily adding to it.

side note: I currently have exams for University, they will be finished this coming week. Look forward to my new posts, I have about three more in the same vain as my previous post.

Let’s talk about SEX, baby!

What a way to start my blog hey? I’ve already said SEX before the blog started. If that made you blush, maybe it’s best not to keep reading. (Or you know if you’re my sister/mum/soon-to-be MIL/co-worker, that also may mean you should stop reading.)

I grew up in a church, and I grew up with the notion that I would not have sex before marriage. It wasn’t something that was drilled into my head and I wasn’t convinced I’d be stuck down if I ever did have sex before marriage. However, all my friends were doing it (and by doing it I mean not doing it ), and somewhere around the age of 15 I decided that True Love Waits. During the next few years of my life, shit happened, and I ended up basically leaving my church (but I didn’t really leave my faith.) I don’t disagree with True Love Waits, I think if an informed individual makes that decision, good on them! That decision takes a lot of effort, and definitely some self control. That being said, I strongly disagree with abstinence only education, however, that is something for another post.
Somewhere between leaving the church completely and moving in with the boy I broke my True Love Waits pledge, and have I ever been disappointed or thought I made the wrong choice? Absolutely not. For me, sex before marriage has been the right choice.
And this is why:
Basically, by my mid-teens I hadn’t kissed any boys (omg prude alert!) but I was a damn good flirter. By my late teens, I fell for someone, flirted a lot, and then it all kind of fell apart, and ended with what some people would argue was a relationship where I was taken advantage of.

I came out of that… barely surviving, but still without breaking that pledge. I found a new boyfriend…. and then broke my pledge.

It was then I learnt some important truths: I Am Woman. And most importantly, if I am comfortable and aware of my wants, and needs, I Call The Shots.

Then a little further on I met my fiancé and I started liking myself a little more, and I realised that those important truths are a big part of me, I enjoy sex a lot and that it self is an important part of me. I am definitely a woman, and I love it. And I’m definitely aware of my wants and needs.

Something my pole dancing instructor said was from our chest to our thighs are what make the female kind different from males (well the most noticeable differences ), it’s where our core is. There are so many women and even men who shy away from that. I am a female and yes, I believe myself to be sexy. And well, that might not mean I’m hot or pretty, or have big boobs or a good figure, I’m still sexy and I believe it’s a very important part to being a female.

It horrifies me that if I hadn’t dated outside my religion, I would never have known that sex is important to me, that if I hadn’t broken that pledge I would still be basically afraid of that area that makes me a woman, and who knows where I’d be.

There is a moment in Sex and the City (the series) where the girls encourage each other to look at themselves in the mirror. How many women don’t do this? How afraid of ourselves are we? Or how much have we been convinced it is wrong, or not needed, or weird it is?

I really feel knowledge is important, is liberating, that it can protect us, it allows us to be in control, be happy and to decide what is right for us. I think a lot of that knowledge comes from being informed about sex and relationships, but mostly about being open about sex and relationships, about being “sex positive,” whether that means being open within our sexual relationships, or between close friends, and even open with strangers (like I am doing at the moment).

I, however, feel the need to point out that I don’t condone young people having sex, and that isn’t what I mean by being informed, knowledge doesn’t have to come from having to actually have sex, but rather being able to talk about it, whether that is the partner, parents, a doctor, best friends, an internet forum full of same gender same aged people. Just to reaffirm that point, I was actually 18 when I first had sex, my whole point isn’t that everyone should go out and do it as soon as possible, but rather we should all be informed, and open about it.

I’d love to hear so opinions about this post, do you agree? Do you think talking about sex should be confined to bedrooms or maybe only between best friends? Do you think being aware of yourself and your own wants and needs leds to you being able to be in control? Are you honest and open about sex? If you agree with me, I’d love to see some people make their own blog posts about the issue, the internet allows us to be open and honest while still being guarded by the computer screen!

This post marks my attempt to be open, and informing, but also to try and gain more knowledge and learn more about myself and my body, and also to continue to accept and love myself!! I will continue to be open on future posts, and see what I learn about myself, and well humans in general.

Yeh, I’m proud too

I don’t often comment here, and I less often write here, but I wanted to share this with you guys because I’m sure y’all be as proud of her as I am.

I learnt to run using an interval system, 2 minute walk, 30s run, 2 minute walk, 60s run … you get the drift … now my aim for her is the Adelaide City to Bay in September. It’s a 6km run and right now she doesn’t think she can do it, but I know better … I think maybe we could do the 12km, but I don’t want to scare her.

So I present Elle’s first step to completing a 6km run.

Trying to get fit.

As I’ve gone into on previous blog posts I have some issue with my eating habits, since I have gotten a desk job I have gained some weight. I sit at my desk, where I used to not sit down at all during my previous job.
The issue I have is when I start to “diet,” I go the extreme and within a week I struggle with not consuming enough calories.
Instead, I have made the choose not to count calories, and rather just make healthier choices. (As in I take Apple Puree instead of falling victim to the horror of vending machines.)
It’s very hard for me not to count calories, it’s an automatic thing for me, when I pick up something I work out how many calories it is. It’s not something I do on purpose, but rather just something I do unconsciously.
I realise not counting calories will make it much harder for me to loss weight, so I’ve also decide to start doing proper exercise. Just to show how serious I am about it, I went and bought exercise shorts and tops.

My first step is using our Wii Fit and do the Couch to 5 kilometre program. I have started using the Wii Fit and I’m loving it. I can actually do a prone hold for 30 seconds, and according to the Wii Fit I hold it fairly steady.
I will start the Couch to 5K when I can work out when I am able to do it without running in the dark….

Basically, I need to lose 7 kilograms. I’m aiming for two to three months, it may be a long deadline but I’m not sticking to a calorie based diet, and only increasing my exercise from zero to something.

I’ve only seen American Pie, The Matrix, The Mummy, Notting Hill, Run Lola Run, Sixth Sense, and Toy Story 2, much to the boys horror. Granted I was only 10 in 1999 but there are many movies I should have seen.
I’ve decided I’m going to start watching these movies. I’m amused that I already have opinions about these movies I’ve never seen before.
Today despite my hatred for Angelina Jolie, we’ve started to watch Girl, Interrupted.

I’m loving the movie, as much as I hate Jolie. She’s bat shit insane, and that makes her perfect for this role. (Sorry for insulting all the Angelina Jolie fans.)

Next I’d like to watch “But I’m a Cheerleader” and “Virgin Suicides“. What are your must watch and do not watch from the list?

Firstly, if any of my readers know where my post title, I’ll be extremely impressed. (Hint: it’s a movie from the late nineties.)
Now, if you know me well or actually if you’ve ever meet me more than about three times, you will quickly notice that I always have a Coke Zero in hand.

Most drink coffee to get their caffeine instead I drink a lot of Coke Zero. If I don’t have Coke Zero, I get a headache from lack of caffeine. That in itself is terrible but also, Coke Zero is full of artificial sugar and all that shit. However, mainly it’s really bloody expensive.
I decided that I needed to change my ways. I bought a new water bottle, see through, green, “shatterproof”, and uber cool in hopes I could encourage my self to drink more water. Today was my first attempt, I decided I wouldn’t just cease my intake of caffeine, because I either wouldn’t last the day at work with a terrible headache or accidentally kill one of my co-workers. I filled up my bottle of h20, and headed to work.

I allowed myself one 600ml bottle of Coke Zero for the whole day and the rest only water. And I totally did it, I drunk three bottles of water and only went to my Coke Zero when I had a headache. I drunk three bottles of water to one Coke Zero (yes I drink a lot and unfortunately for me I have a small bladder.) I plan to do this for a week or so, and then hopefully go a few days with none at all and then see where I go from there… I don’t have to give it up completely right?
Do you guys have any vices you should give up? Come on… admit them!

I can’t last two days

This is the third day I haven’t posted for, it was supposed to be every two days. However, I do feel slightly more productive. Yesterday, I organised my University work, and started on week 1 work. Today, I have been scrubbing the house clean for our rental inspection. Bathroom, bleached and spotless. Check. Lounge room, spotless. Check. Kitchen is half way done, I’m over it already. Lunch break and then I’ll finish, I promise.

Something I’ve realised in the last week that I left my first job in a fun bakery to further my Marketing career. I have a job in a medium sized company, that can definitely use some marketing direction. I got the job because of my nearly finished marketing degree, and was spoke to straight away with what I could do. However, then all the management changed and that option quickly disappeared. I’ve tried to do little bits and pieces but keep getting drafted back to my “actual job”. I don’t know whether I accept I won’t get the chance, and do my job well and look for a new marketing job when my degree is completed. Or do I just keep handing them ideas and hope someday they let me run with it and give me time to do it? I have a plan that’s a good four pages long, I don’t know if I should finish it up and give it to my management. Any ideas?

Not productive

I am so unproductive online, I spend a lot of time online and spend most of it trolling stupid funny sites rather than blogging, or doing anything of substance. I spend my days on Truu Mom Confessions, STFU Parents, STFU Marrieds, and Etsy.

However, I have actually stuck to making a Tumblr for How I Met Your Mother. Slap Countdown. It’s quickly approaching 100 followers, it’s fun! I guess that’s one thing I’ve stuck to online in the last few months.

I have two goals, I need to start posting every second day on taciturnly, and thanks to inspiration from Jenn I want to make a new layout.

House on the brain.

Even though we’ve settled into our new rented house, we’re still planning for the fact that next time we move it will be into our own house. I kinda love this house, great location, two train stops away from a beach, and a ten minute (if that) drive into town, close to public transport but not too close to a main road, etc. The yard is huge, it would be possible to subdivide and sell it. The kitchen has just been remodeled. I’d love to own it, I’d rip the carpet up as it has awesome wood floors under it, get rid of the wallpaper in the spare room, remodel the bathroom and replace all the sliding doors. (And add a fourth bedroom or rumpus room, or at least extend the house somehow as the backyard is so large, etc.) How impossible is it to buy a house someone is renting out? Has anyone ever done that?

Also, within the local area there are two huge developments for new housing, one is a couple of years away and the other is about seven or something. I’d rather not build, I’d rather buy an older house and spend the money to redo it exactly how I want it, but it doesn’t hurt to look at house plans, and look at layouts of house developments right? Our debt is nearly gone, started saving, so the dream of owning a house is still far away but closer than it was when we moved. Maybe it’s silly to talk about owning a house, but everyone always told me to have goals and talk about them. So yep, my goal is to own my own house.

I’m really not too good at cleaning, I had it going for a while in the summer. With University and work, I decide to sit down at 8 on my computer rather than clean. I need to change it, I actually want to. I do enjoy cleaning once I start… I just need to start. The idea of having a nice clean house is something I aspire to, but not well, I’m naturally messy and so my house is generally quite messy. Why did I not realise when I moved out that I needed to set up a routine to clean my house? Silly me. We’re moving soon, so time to change that.

I’ve started working on my daily, and weekly tasks. I tried to think about monthly tasks but I couldn’t think of any. I thought I’d share it with you and see if anyone had any more ideas. I’ve broke it into daily tasks, and five days out the week to focus on one room in more depth. This is my first draft of a cleaning list, help!! Also, as a side note. I’ve completed ignored outdoors, maybe that can be in the second draft.

Daily:

General:

I think the best tips I read where to keep the tools you needed all together, so you don’t have to travel around the house to do a two minute job. To do small things whenever you think about it. Not to go overboard with cleaning products, jsut stick with general ones (vinegar and bi-carb). Any more tips?
